Exploring Home Staging Trends with Jane Cibola of JC Staging
In 2026, home design is shifting toward something more subtle: spaces that feel effortless, grounded, and naturally aligned with how people actually live.
To explore what’s driving this change, we spoke with our trusted stager, Jane Cibola of JC Staging, about the evolving expectations behind home staging and what sellers should understand about presentation in today’s market.
Every listing we prepare includes an initial staging consultation with Jane, helping ensure each space is positioned with clarity and intention from the start. Her expertise has helped us streamline our preparation process and consistently present homes in a way that resonates with buyers.

Below, Jane shares her perspective on what’s shaping home staging trends in 2026.

What are the biggest home staging trends you’re seeing in 2026?
The biggest shift in 2026 is that staging is becoming less about ‘styled perfection’ and more about creating spaces that feel natural and livable.
We’re seeing a move toward warmer, softer interiors—less stark contrast, fewer rigid setups, and more focus on comfort and flow. Homes that feel overly staged or too ‘done’ are starting to feel less believable to buyers.
The goal now is to create spaces that feel calm, lived-in, and easy to imagine yourself in—without being personal or distracting.
It’s less about following trends, and more about removing anything that breaks that sense of ease.
How do you balance current design trends with creating a timeless, buyer-friendly space?
Trends are helpful as a reference point, but staging is never driven solely by trends—they’re not what sells a home. What sells is how the space feels: clean, functional, and easy for buyers to emotionally connect with.
My approach is to keep the foundation of the space timeless and neutral, and only use trends in a very subtle, controlled way when they support the overall feel.
Most of the work is actually about the space itself—making sure it flows properly, feels well-proportioned, and isn’t distracted by outdated or overly personal choices.
That often means small but intentional changes: removing pieces that don’t belong, adjusting furniture that doesn’t fit the scale of the room, or softening details that feel too specific.
When the space feels right, it doesn’t need to rely on trends, it just feels right to buyers.
What’s one staging investment that always pays off for sellers?
The most overlooked staging investment—and the one that always pays off—is time.
Giving yourself enough time to properly prepare the home changes everything. It allows you to declutter, depersonalize, and make clear, intentional decisions instead of rushed ones under pressure.
If I narrow it down further, the two things that consistently make the biggest difference are deep cleaning and fresh paint.
A professional deep clean does more than refresh the home—it naturally forces you to remove unnecessary items that are taking up visual and physical space, which immediately makes rooms feel more open and intentional.
Fresh paint then pulls everything together. A neutral, consistent colour throughout the home instantly makes the space feel brighter, more updated, and more cohesive from room to room.
When those elements are in place, the home already feels calmer, more polished, and more ready for buyers, before any styling even begins.
CONCLUSION
Great staging is just one part of a successful sale. When combined with strategic pricing, strong marketing, and expert negotiation, it becomes a key factor in how a property performs on the market, especially as home staging trends continue to evolve toward more natural, buyer-focused design.
